Adrian and Dhishanthini in the Sienna Gown
A celebration in three parts: a UK civil ceremony, a Hindu wedding in Sri Lanka, and a sun-drenched Mallorca reception.
A Modern Match
Their story began as a casual message on Bumble. When Adrian and Dhishanthini first matched in November 2017, he confessed he was just on the app to pass time while recovering from a football injury, but that soon changed. “After we matched, we hit it off right away, and it felt like we had known each other for ages,” she says. She remembers feeling instantly grounded by his calm, nurturing nature. “We truly are each other’s person.”
After months of travelling and talking about the future, the proposal came in the middle of a trip through Central and South America. It was in Costa Rica, at a boutique hotel with views of the Arenal Volcano, that Adrian asked the question. “The whole thing was really sweet,” Dhishanthini says. “I could tell he was so nervous by how he was acting the entire day.”
Three Wedding Celebrations Across Three Countries
The bride and groom had three celebrations across three countries. The legal ceremony took place in the UK, intimate and understated. Next came a vibrant Hindu celebration in Sri Lanka, honouring family, tradition and heritage. Finally, a sunlit gathering in Mallorca, where they brought everyone together for their non-official civil celebration. “My friend got married in Mallorca back in 2019, and it just felt magical. I knew I had to consider it when it was my turn,” she says.
They chose the church of Sóller for the ceremony that felt like something out of a dream, followed by a reception at Son Termes: a rustic venue overlooking the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. “Their service and hospitality were exceptional.”
The styling leant into the feeling of high summer in the Mediterranean. “I chose a theme of vibrant pink, orange and yellow flowers to match the peak of summer in Mallorca,” she explains. “Seeing all our loved ones in one place, seeing all my decor ideas come to life... and having so much fun with my husband taking our couples photos,” were a few of Dhishanthini’s highlights of the day.
Finding 'The One'
After following Grace Loves Lace for over a year on Instagram, Dhishanthini stepped into our London boutique knowing she wanted something timeless, easy to move in, and completely her.
“Sienna was a dream,” she says. “Once I saw how the back of the gown looked on me, I fell in love. It’s a style I’ve not seen elsewhere.” The fabric, she adds, “was just to die for… and the fact that I could move freely in the gown was a winner.”
The bride's experience from entering the London boutique to trying on her dress was so exciting and made everything feel so real. “Every dress I tried on was beautiful. I especially loved how the material felt on my skin; it was so flattering," she says. She kept the styling minimal and elegant, wearing a necklace with a pendant engraved with their initials, a pair of pearl drop earrings, and a plain cathedral veil.
