Amy and Bobby in Nathalia
Amy and Bobby eloped in Iceland, atop the subvolcanic glacier in Katla wearing Nathalia
The Second Date That Sealed It
Amy and Bobby met on Hinge. Their first date was a picnic in Boston Public Garden, where they met for the first time on the bridge above the swan boats. The second date sealed it. Amy opened her door to find Bobby on the step, soaked through by the pouring rain, her favourite pizza in his hands. “I knew Bobby was ‘the one’ on our second date,” she says.
Bobby proposed in Provincetown, Massachusetts, as the sun set over the marsh. They were at the cosy hotel they return to every summer. Afterwards, they celebrated with dinner at The Red Inn.
Real Bride Amy in Nathalia
An Elopement on Katla
They wanted a wedding day that felt like an adventure, with nothing to do but be present with each other in nature. Iceland gave them waterfalls, a black sand beach, an ice cave and landscapes that changed with every turn.
The weather changed too. The morning started with sun and rainbows. By evening it had turned to wind, rain, hail and snow, and the temperature dropped fast. For Amy, the day became a picture of marriage itself: the two of them, moving through whatever came.
They walked behind a waterfall in their wedding attire. They hiked up a glacier and into an ice cave. “The entire day was otherworldly,” Amy says.
The First and Only Appointment
Grace Loves Lace was the first and only appointment Amy needed. She tried on three dresses and knew immediately that Nathalia was hers.
She had gone to the appointment alone, so she brought her parents back to see it on her.
She chose a custom Nathalia in stretch lace so the gown would move with her across the changing landscapes of her wedding day.
Advice for future brides
“My advice is to keep the focus on you and your partner starting your life together as a couple and not feel pressured to do what does not feel authentically you.”
