Greg and Crystal in the Jones Gown
A Niagara vineyard set the scene for a vibrant wedding that brought colour, energy, and a dance floor that didn’t stop.
The First Moments
Greg and Crystal met out at sea. She had planned to join a friend for a day out on a boat, and though her friend cancelled that morning, Crystal decided to go anyway. “Greg was the first person I met on the boat,” she recalls. “I love Greg because he’s even-keeled on sea or land but knows when to turn it up (as evidenced by our dance floor).”
The couple got engaged on Vancouver Island, an intentional meeting point between two worlds. “I’m a Pacific North-west girl at heart, and Greg is an island boy from Barbados,” she shares. “It felt fitting to get engaged by the ocean, underneath the mountains.”
A Vineyard Wedding in the Final Days of Summer
The couple married in the lush surrounds of a Niagara-on-the-Lake vineyard. It was a celebration filled with jewel-tone florals, tropical touches, and a dance floor that became the heartbeat of the night. “We’re vibrant, colourful people and always pictured getting married surrounded by flowers that matched that energy,” says the bride. “A vineyard backdrop ended up being the perfect way to celebrate greenery, natural light, and splashes of colour.”
The late-September summer weather brought an incredible sunset and a cooler breeze, perfect for guests enjoying the couple’s food truck selection, which included hot sauce, chicken, and waffles. “We had to make sure our guests didn’t overheat from the spice and the dance floor!” And the dancing didn’t disappoint. Their DJ, who doubled as a live vocalist, spun ‘90s hip-hop and early 2000s pop that inspired conga lines, limbo, and dropping it low.
A Silhouette Worth Celebrating
The moment Crystal found the Jones gown, she knew. Drawn to clean lines, simplicity, and flattering silhouettes that celebrate a woman’s body. “Jones was classic with a twist. I loved the deep V neckline and leg slit that gave me extra strutting energy,” the bride says.
She found the gown at our Toronto boutique, and after a long day of appointments, it was her stylist, Asana, who made the difference. “She was the best listener and the most intuitive stylist of the whole day.”
