With World Earth Day upon us, let's take a moment to reflect on the profound implications our choices can have on our beautiful planet. Each seemingly minor step we take to reduce our carbon footprint and protect our environment can make a lasting difference in preserving the cherished world we live in for generations to come. Let's celebrate this special day by committing to making positive changes that promote the collective well-being of others and the planet we call home.

From day one, we've dedicated ourselves to creating a company rooted in ethical and eco-friendliness, prioritizing the well-being of our community and environment above all else. We’re committed to not only enhancing our communication on sustainability but also translating it into meaningful action, making a lasting promise.

From utilizing repurposed materials to employing eco-conscious packaging, we take pride in unveiling our sustainable initiatives, proving that bridal fashion can seamlessly intertwine with environmental responsibility.

Sustainability: Our Commitment

Bridal fashion should never come at the expense of individuals or our precious planet. That’s why, for over a decade, we have been committed to ethical and sustainable manufacturing practices. From providing pristine workplace conditions to implementing waste management strategies, we have made it our mission to continually improve as a brand.

Our gowns are produced in both Australia and Asia, in facilities that all meet our strict certification guidelines. 100% of our offshore Tier 1 suppliers, our garment manufacturers, are audited and certified by a 3rd party. These audits are assessed against a checklist of three key pillars: labor standards, health and safety and the environment, as well as working closely with the suppliers to develop their business ethics.

Our commitment extends beyond upholding ethical and sustainable standards; it’s about constantly striving to do better and making a lasting impact. As we have grown as a business, we’ve never lost sight of our commitment to our planet. If anything, our success has only fueled our determination to discover innovative approaches to reduce waste. Grace Loves Lace x UPPAREL

We endeavor to connect with like-minded partners who share our passion for sustainability. That’s why we are proud to share our partnership with Australian based recycled firm UPPAREL, who have supported us in this process since 2022.

We partner with UPPAREL to ensure that any fabric scraps or retired samples find new life again through textile recycling, in the fight against textile waste. Between January and March 2024, we diverted 2,105kg of textiles from landfill in partnership with UPPAREL. This resulted in the prevention of 7,369kg of greenhouse gas from polluting our atmosphere.

Grace Loves Lace x Clean the Sea

Clean the Sea is an organization committed to preserving our seas and harbors. They utilize Seabin technology to remove floating plastics as small as 2mm, filtering 600,000L of water daily from oil and surface pollutants. We partner with Clean the Sea through i=Change, with $1 for every order placed donated to support a cause that is close to our hearts.

Each $1 invested into this partnership will remove 1.2kg of plastic & debris from the sea. Between March and April 2024, we raised $1,150, resulting in the removal of 1380kg of plastic and debris from the ocean.

You can read more about our partnership with i=Change and other partnerships here.

Our Founder and Creative Director, Megan, has always challenged conventional norms, inspiring us to continually push the boundaries of innovation.

Lumi stands as a beacon of sustainable product, with a 100% Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification. Every stitch and seam adhere to the highest standard of sustainability, embodying the future of bridal design. By selecting Lumi, brides not only wear an elegant and time-honored style but also advocate for responsible consumption. We also ensure that excess trims, motifs and spare fabrics are incorporated into designs so we can eradicate fabric wastage.

We take pride in utilizing 100% recycled threads and linings in all our gowns, underscoring our commitment to environmental responsibility. By repurposing existing resources, we reduce landfill, ocean waste, and minimize CO2 emissions. Learn more about our sustainability initiatives for our product here.
